Funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund through the On the Move Programme, the Settling in Service provides free, personalised support to military families relocating to Catterick Garrison, RAF Leeming and the surrounding areas of North Yorkshire.
Our aim is simple: to help military families settle, connect and thrive in their new community.

Our friendly Settling in Service team can provide a free personalised settling-in session, either by telephone or through a home visit, to help you:
- Find local services, including healthcare, schools and community facilities
- Discover local groups, activities and events
- Build connections with other military families
- Access practical information to help you settle into your new area
- Feel more confident navigating life in North Yorkshire
As part of your settling-in session, you’ll receive a complimentary Your First 30 Days in North Yorkshire guide, packed with useful local information and signposting.

Become a Settling in Supporter
Have you relocated to North Yorkshire with the Armed Forces in the last two years?
If so, your experience could make a real difference to another family.
We’re looking for volunteers to become Settling in Supporters. By sharing your local knowledge and lived experience, you’ll help new military families feel welcome, build confidence and settle into their new community.
As a Settling in Supporter, you might:
- Welcome new families to the area
- Share your local knowledge and practical tips
- Help families discover local activities and services
- Offer reassurance from someone who understands what it’s like to relocate with military life
- Be part of a supportive volunteer community
Whether you’ve only recently settled yourself or have already found your feet, your experience can help someone else’s move feel much easier.
