You might be able to use less energy by making changes to your home or asking your landlord to make changes – these are called ‘energy efficiency home improvements’. These changes reduce the amount of energy you need to keep your home warm.
You might be able to:
improve your home’s insulation to keep your home warmer for longer
add solar panels to generate electricity for your home
install a more efficient heating system, for example a heat pump.
Knowing where to start can be difficult. One place to start is to look at your home’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which tells you how energy efficient a building is. An EPC includes:
cost effective ways to improve your EPC rating
information on what the energy efficiency rating could be if you made the recommended improvements.
If you own your own property and do not have an EPC, you can contact our Warm & Well Team for help in obtaining one for your home. Our fully qualified Domestic Energy Assessors can attend your property, assess it, and provide you with an EPC, which lasts for ten years. They can also advise on what steps you can take next, and check to see if you can access any grants to cover the cost, or some of the cost, of energy efficiency improvements.
If you would like to speak to our team about the energy efficiency of your home, or to discuss an appointment with one of our Domestic Energy Assessors, you can call our Warm & Well Team on 01609 767 555, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.

Our advisors are fully trained, and can provide you with comprehensive energy advice, as well as benefit entitlement calculations, energy efficiency advice, and more.
